Video: English Circle Dance

The delight of this movement pattern is the ability of the participants to move in many directions. There is a challenge for front to back, side to side, and up and down. Any music that has a slow 4/4 time will work for this section. By holding hands with the group there is a synergy engaged to bring everyone together. The challenge of the footwork creates an opportunity to move in ways that may not be comfortable, but which are doable. And, as the group gains confidence, the lifting of the eyes and the connecting with the group brings about a new energy dynamic that allows people to let go of thinking about the steps, and just enjoying the flow of the movement. This is a great dance for gaining many skills for a group.
