Raising BioEnergetic Awareness

This program has two paths for exploration!  First, exploration as a layperson desires to gain awareness of the body and the biofield.  Second, receive academic achievement and qualify for credits with Akamai University through in-depth research and discovery.

For more information on workshops and university courses, please contact Michelle at info@dancedebut.com

For the Layperson:

The workshops aim to open your eyes to the fact that you have much more information at your disposal than you are aware of by offering you the opportunity to gain in-depth insight into your five senses and the energy experienced by the body.

Module A takes you on a journey of self-discovery. Module B takes your experiences out of Module A and develops them into self-care skills.

Together we will increase awareness and discover how to balance the biofield. We will work alone, in pairs, and as triads; covering the areas of  centering, grounding, breathing, meditation, and intention, offering energy with the intention of:
       • Building skills
       • Using exploration activities
       • Creating connections with others
       • Finding daily opportunities to enhance life

Furthermore, you are welcome to become a part of RBEA Exploration Days which are an introduction to the program. And once you have taken Modula A, join our Alumni program, where you can gather with others who have graduated from the program to explore more and fine-tune your skills in awareness and wellness.

CAM: Raising BioEnergetic Awareness (RBEA) – Exploring Energy (3 credits)

Awareness of our well-being and our initial feelings in a situation are key to understanding the energetic shifts that can happen to bring imbalance and blocked flow to living. When we raise our awareness of what the senses are providing us moment by moment, in situations and experiences, we can begin to understand how our feelings, emotions, physical reactions, and connections with others can be transformed. In this exploratory course, we will be identifying our ways of knowing, the pattern of belief and thoughts that shift our focus away from well-being, and how to engage energetically and intentionally. Each experiential exercise will explore a concept and create an opportunity for journaling for further insight. Concepts include brain and body connections, the power of compassion, the use of the breath within exercises, centring, and grounding, reflective journaling, the connection of the spine and emotions, as well as perceptions.

Learning Objectives:  Participants will be able to:

  1. Explore your awareness through the 5 senses and other ways of knowing and identify how this knowledge enhances all aspects of life, especially your disciplines, and work.
  2. Describe the key concepts, principles, theory, interventions, assessment, and clinical evaluations of RBEA in your discipline.
  3. Demonstrate competency in the application of RBEA in your personal and professional life regarding self, others, and situations.

Course Topics:

  • Sensing Energy
  • Centring
  • Reflective Journaling
  • Grounding
  • Intention
  • Exploring the Impact of Emotions
    • The Lens that Shapes Experiences
    • Changing Perception
    • Healing Potential
    • Offering vs. Giving
    • Letting go of Outcome
    • Releasing Doubt and Judgement
    • Self-Responsibility
  • Sensing all Possibilities
  • Bringing Awareness to the Healing Process
  • Living Consciously
  • Importance of Rest after a Session

Assignments & Evaluation

  1. Attend RBEA class virtually. Record your course observations in detail in the provided journal and describe where in your life or professional work you apply the concepts of RBEA, and the results experienced (25% class participation).
  2. Describe in depth the practicality of the theory and practice of RBEA as well as discuss these aspects of the research explored in Lynne McTaggart’s book “The Field”. (Paper of 7 – 10 pages, worth 25%).
  3. Create short videos to explain 5 aspects of RBEA to an audience that fits your professional orientation (nursing, medicine, psychology, counceling, education, layperson, criminal justice, elders, children) to document your ideas that cover the key points that should be shared with your population regarding RBEA. The maximum length of each video: is 5 min. (5 Videos worth 25%).
  4. Create a Self-Care handout providing friends, clients, or colleagues tips applying 3 aspects of RBEA. Write up your observations of 5 friends, clients, or colleagues applying your tips. (worth 25 %).

CAM: Raising BioEnergetic Awareness (RBEA) – Energetic Self Care (3 credits)

Energetic Self Care extends past initial awareness and engagement of the senses. With explorations in biofeedback through muscle monitoring we begin to listen to the needs of the body for optimum balance and flow. The experiential work with intention, sound, color, and movement in combination with biofeedback will open the awareness to a better understanding of energetic influences. Vision mapping, tea with intention, and infusing objects with energy are special activities to provide living examples of how this approach can be used for a fuller, more optimized level of self-care.

Learning Objectives:  Participants will be able to:

  1. Explore beyond mindfulness through biofeedback tools how their enhanced awareness will change their self-care, well-being, and everyday interactions and activities.
  2. Describe the key concepts, principles, theory, interventions, assessment, and clinical evaluations of RBEA in your discipline.
  3. Demonstrate competency in the application of RBEA in your personal and professional life regarding self, others, and situations.

Course Topics:

  • Make energy shifts visible
  • Infusing objects with energy
  • The importance of intention
    • Tea with Intention
    • Vision Mapping
  • The influence of color
  • The influence of sound
  • Movement with group dynamics
  • Figure eight for self-care
  • Reflective Journaling

Assignments & Evaluation

  1. Attend RBEA class virtually. Record your course observations in detail in the provided journal and describe where in your life or professional work you apply the concepts of RBEA, and the results experienced (25% class participation)
  2. Write an exploratory essay of 1000-1500 words that investigates Dan Siegel’s Wheel of Awareness as per the required materials given.  How do the exercises in RBEA Self-Care change your experience of the Wheel of Awareness?  Do you believe the Wheel of Awareness is complete?  How can your experiences in RBEA Self-Care assist others in shifting awareness and self-empowerment?  (Paper of 7 – 10 pages, worth 25%)
  3. In Lissa Rankin’s book she explores awareness and listening to the body.  Using Diagnostic Exercise #3: Make the Diagnosis for Yourself starting on page 194, create an RBEA version of this exercise. Prepare a presentation to guide a client through the exercise choosing a medium that fits your professional orientation (nursing, medicine, psychology, counceling, education, layperson, criminal justice, elders, children).  (Presentation to the instructor, worth 25%)
  4. Create a personal Self-Care plan applying 3 aspects of RBEA. Write up your observations of following this plan for one week. (worth 25 %)
