Have you ever wanted to take a percussive class? Perhaps tap dance or stepdance? This special class introduces the basics of Stepdance with the love of special foot warmups. We cater to the needs of the individuals in the class by choosing warmups to help with stiff joints, sore feet, minimal balance, challenges with coordination, and more. We progress from this to simple combinations to encourage the feet, ankles, and knee joints to work together. For those worried about balance or hopping on one foot, there are seated options as well as alternatives to hopping with a heel drop.
We use fun music to sing along with, Cape Breton music, and students’ choices. Together we create patterns to perfect and grow with, as well as combinations that are easy to do throughout the week. Our goal is to have fun, learn a little about Cape Breton stepdance and be together. With the online platform, you are welcome to wear socks, slippers, shoes, or tap shoes. Whatever is comfortable for you. The emphasis is on participation.
The class runs in 8-week blocks. Winter 2022-2023 runs Nov 14, 21, 28, Dec 19, Jan 9, 16, 23, and 30. Spring 2023 runs Feb 6, 13, 27, Mar 6, 13, 20, 27, and April 3. Beginners are welcome. Classes are offered online through zoom.
