Heart of the Community Award goes to Dr. Greenwell

strait chamber announcement

Compassionate Living provides support for all of us.

“Congratulations to Dr. Michelle Greenwell on being chosen as the winner of our Heart of the Community Award! This award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution in one or more of the following areas: recreation, leisure, business, and or health within the field of community volunteerism. Michelle has given back in all of these areas and continually promotes the idea of paying it forward in all aspects of her private and work life. As the owner of Dance Debut Inc. and her newest venture, Cape Breton Tea Company, we are sure to see many more wonderful things on the horizon for Michelle.

We look forward to celebrating this accomplishment with Michelle and our other award winners at our AGM Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony on May 24th at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre! We’d love it if you could join us in the celebrations: https://www.straitareachamber.ca/2023-agm-dinner-awards”

Thank you to the Strait Area Chamber of Commerce for this amazing recognition.

One of the lessons I learned from studying Master Moy Lin-Shin’s Tai Chi form is the main lessons for living. Included, is that one offers Tai Chi from their heart. Whether there is one student or a hundred, being present to be all that the one person needs and all that those one hundred need is expected. Compassionately sharing Tai Chi without focusing on monetary gain, but cultivating wellness in others as well as ourselves is the main focus. Leading in this way creates a magical class, as well as influences all the other aspects of life. Collaboration comes out of the same philosophy and expands the potential of all that is possible. I owe my volunteer contributions in the community to this approach and my parent’s example of selfless giving that they offered throughout my childhood and into my adult years.

It has been my pleasure to be a part of the Cape Breton community and to have been able to share my gifts and passions with others to support well-being and connection.

I hope you will join us for the celebration dinner honoring other award winners as well.
