Video: Square Set 1 and 2

Square Set 1: The first part of the modern Inverness Square Set in Cape Breton, this video demonstrates the basic shuffle step for the jig, the polka step, over the top, step touch, and dancing with a corner partner. This is good for small and large group opportunities, use jig music to accompany the movement. The linking of hands creates a synergy between the group members, the jig step provides a way to ground or be centered on the floor, and the polka step is a quick introduction to dancing with a partner. This is a great introductory dance to do with a class that is just learning to dance. The pattern is completed 4 times.

Square Set 2: The second part of the modern Inverness Square Set in Cape Breton, this video demonstrates how to apply the jig step, dancing with the partner instead of the corner partner, and promenading. The dance is done to jig music, and the pattern is completed 4 times with the promenade beginning with the tall dancer or gentleman on the inside walking counter clockwise, and the second promenade with the tall dancer or gentleman on the outside walking clockwise. Repeat each again to complete the 4 times.
