Winter Class Schedule for Port Hawkesbury

SAERC Theatre
9:00 – 9:45 am Small Wonders (3-5 yrs) Join us for some dance and music fun as we explore themed weeks with puppets, props and music that will open up ideas and movement to your little one that they can explore more at home. Basic dance skills will be explored from ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre and celtic dance. Please wear clothes to easily move in tap shoes and ballet slippers or small runners. January 10, 17, 24, 31, February 7, 14, 21, 28, March 7, 14 (snow days March 21 or 28 if needed). Cost: $80 for 10 weeks

9:45 – 10:45 am Music in Motion (5-7 yrs) A Full year program, this class will cover techniques from tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, musical theatre, highland and stepdance as we progress through the year. Dancers will need leggings, a t-shirt, tap shoes and a pair of ballet slippers. Class is from September to May and dancers make a full year commitment to the group. Our spring show will be May 24th at Strathspey Place Theatre in Mabou. Cost: $210 for the year. 2 Payments may be made by September 1st – $130 and February 1st – $80. For anyone wishing to join in January the cost would be $140 to complete the year. Classes begin again January 10th.

10:45 – 12:15 pm Dance Club 1 (8 yrs and older) A Full year program, this class will cover techniques from tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, musical theatre, highland and stepdance as we progress through the year. Dancers will need leggings, a t-shirt, tap shoes and a pair of ballet slippers. Class is from September to May and dancers make a full year commitment to the group. Our spring show will be May 24th at Strathspey Place Theatre in Mabou. Cost: $310 for the year. 2 Payments may be made by September 1st – $205 and February 1st – $105. For anyone wishing to join in January the cost would be $210 to complete the year. Classes begin again January 10th.

Port Hawkesbury Civic Center Dance Studio:
12:30 – 2:00 Tai Chi Cape Breton Join us as we exploring the healing powers of the Tai Chi Foundations and 108 Moving Meditation of Master Moy Lin Shin. Tai Chi and Qi Gong are an easy, low impact, stretching and strengthening way to change the moving patterns of the body. Studies show that many of our ailments can be relieved by practicing this ancient art form, this can include blood pressure, diabetes, chronic pain, headaches, joint pain, energy levels, sleep patterns, breathing patterns, allergies, inflammation and more. Registration is in a 4 month cycle, with classes running throughout the year. January to April is $45 w HST for Seniors and students, or $90 w HST for Adults under 55 yrs. Monthly rates are $12 w HST and $23 w HST respectively. , and students are encouraged to attend other Tai Chi Cape Breton classes throughout the week with their membership: Belle Cote Community Hall Mondays 10 – 11:30 am, Judique Community Hall Tuesdays 6:30 – 8 pm, St Joseph’s Renewal Center in Mabou Thursdays 7 – 8:30 pm. (This is a not for profit program, and your instructor is a volunteer in honor of Master Moy’s wishes that all teachings come from the heart and that Tai Chi be available to all).

2:00 – 3:00 Qi YINtegration Set 1 Practice Session: For those people who have completed Set 1 material, this is an opportunity to use the material to balance the body for energy, vitality and health. Each week will include activities, assessments and goal setting. Once confidence is built with the Set 1 material, the group will begin to explore the material from Set 2. This 10 week session begins January 10 to March 14 for $80.

3:00 – 4:00 Qi YINtegration Set 1: This 10 week session is an introduction to changing movement patterns in your everyday life to create strength, ease of movement, flexibility and release of pain and tension from the body. The exercises are simple and integrate directly into your everyday. Handouts and power points will be available for home practice to transform habits. If you have avoided exercise programs because of shyness, limited ability, pain, or just plain laziness to make a change, then take advantage of this revolutionary way of putting energy and vitality back into your life. All are welcome, and all abilities will find a place! If it is hard for you to get out, bring a friend and inspire each other together. Sitting exercises and specific health challenges will be considered so don’t think you can’t – because you can! Please wear comfortable clothes and socks (or flat shoes if they are necessary) Cost: $80 , January 10 – March 14.
